GOLD & SILVER

AT

CAKE INTERNATIONAL, MANCHESTER

6-8 FEBRUARY 2015

I decided to enter my first competition with my cakes, and chose Cake International at Manchester. I chose the Wedding Cake category, but wanted in excess of the minimum 3 tiers. I felt the Wedding Cake class was more of a challenge, as the Judges are very strict & thorough.

"I was so chuffed when I returned to the show on the Sunday to find I had won GOLD (and silver)."Brian Taylor, Chairman of Judges said "I had achieved all of the specifications required in the class, and the standard this year was very high". which is extremely flattering.

"I was advised that the most important part of these competitions is having a unique idea, once you have got it, you are half way there".

I wanted to base my cake around snowflakes because it tied in nicely with the time of year. Winning my first GOLD & SILVER, especially in the same category, leaves you wanting more, and I've lots of ideas up my sleeve!!".

The Wedding Cake category attracted over 80 contestants who all had to make a Wedding Cake of three tiers or more, using sugarcraft. The entries were then judged, and the Chairman of Judges, Brian Taylor was there to oversee the judging.

CAKE INTERNATIONAL, which took place from 6-8 February 2015, is the world's biggest and most popular sugarcraft, cake decorating & baking show! Held in Birmingham, London and Manchester the annual festival is supported by the British Sugarcraft Guild, Renshaw & Kenwood.
